Several of the predictable needs in this arena include:

1. The development of a baseline health screening for all firefighters including key indicators relevant to this population
2. The need to partner with various health providers, educators, education and research institutions and others (e.g., occupational health providers, fitness experts, professionals in the areas of prevention and wellness for special populations, nutritionists, physical therapists, cardiologists, and mental health professionals)
3. The challenge of selecting components of various existing programs—some that are population-specific and some that are not—and packaging them in a way that is both cost-effective and realistically implementable
